Positive indices and standard form - part 2
Writing ordinary numbers in standard form can be done in a similar
way, working backwards.
For example, to write 51000 in standard form, we first put the decimal
point behind the first digit 5.100. How many places have we moved the decimal point? Four places. Therefore 51000 (ordinary form) = 5.1000 * 104 = 5.1 * 104 (standard form)
Remember: In order to have standard form, we have to have two parts:

the decimal part with the decimal point after the first digit

the power of ten part
